Supply chain disruptions and inflation continue to delay timelines, causing increased construction costs, and permits issued for projects have decreased. 
“While the construction industry has plenty of work in the pipeline, it’s getting increasingly difficult to execute specific projects from a lending standpoint,” said Peet Poillon, senior adviser at NFP, an insurance and benefits coverage firm. “Rising construction costs are also making it harder for deals to pencil despite the demand.”

<content:encoded><![CDATA[The wage gap between men and women in commercial real estate has widened over the past five years, leaving women at all levels underpaid, underrepresented and increasingly unsatisfied with their careers in 2020, according to a new benchmark study report by Commercial Real Estate Women Network.
A survey of 2,930 industry professionals from across all CRE sectors found that for fixed base salaries, women make an average 10% less than men. For lucrative commissions and bonuses, women take home a whopping 56% less on average than their male counterparts.

Investcorp Executive Chairman Mohammed Alardhi called it the "biggest real estate portfolio acquisition in our history."
Through its portfolio purchase, the Bahrain-based company acquired properties in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Charlotte and Tennessee.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Top industrial markets across the U.S. saw big boosts in investment throughout 2018, and several of these regions, including Chicago, have seen the pace pick up even further in the first few weeks of 2019.
A market review by Avison Young’s Chicago-based national industrial capital markets group shows an increase in year-over-year sales activity through mid-February in core markets including Dallas (45.7%) and Chicago (30.4%). Sales volume dipped in the New Jersey/New York City area by 21.5%, and by 5% in Los Angeles. The company analyzed investment sales data provided by Real Capital Analytics.

BB&T Bank and SunTrust Bank will combine in an all-stock deal billed as a "merger of equals," Reuters reports. The new company, which will be valued at an estimated $66B when the merger closes in the fourth quarter, will locate its headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.
