<content:encoded><![CDATA[SoftBank-backed smart glass manufacturer View Inc. is still in dire straits, almost a year after admitting it was at risk of being delisted amid financial reporting weakness.
The Silicon Valley-based tech company disclosed in its annual report Friday that it has laid off roughly 170 employees — almost a quarter of its workforce — and it still has substantial doubt about its ability to continue operations without fresh funding.
"We do not currently have adequate financial resources to fund our forecasted operating costs and meet our obligations for at least twelve months," it wrote in the report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Meta moved out of one of the buildings in the second quarter of this year and left the other over the last three months, according to TRD.
The impact of the company leaving the space behind was a big hit to the local office market. The vacancy was the Silicon Valley office market’s single largest of the year, TRD said, citing a Colliers Q2 report.

The Silicon Valley firm is continuing its investments into the new year, paying $44M for an industrial building in Sunnyvale, according to CoStar Group. It’s not yet clear how Apple intends to use the 105K SF space at 123 Uranium Drive, located about 5 miles from the company’s HQ in Cupertino.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[Meta, formerly Facebook, has signed a 719K SF lease in Sunnyvale, California. The Silicon Valley deal is the largest private sector lease in the U.S. in 2021, according to Facebook’s new landlord, Tishman Speyer, which announced the deal Wednesday. 
Tishman Speyer acquired the Class-A office campus earlier this year for a reported $365M. Meta is set to occupy the entirety of the four-building complex situated in the Moffett Park neighborhood. 
“Silicon Valley remains the global center of innovation and its importance will continue to grow even as other innovation hubs emerge,” Tishman Speyer President and CEO Rob Speyer said in a statement.
